Most people I talk to can’t believe the end of year is almost here so the thought of looking back over our 2012 achievements seemed a relatively simple task. When I asked the question to the team I thought I would have difficulty filling the page, but as the hours passed and the contributions rolled in I realised that this was going to be a truly defining year for Corplex.
The first quarter may have started a little quietly, but this is the construction industry and it takes a little while to start up, never the less the Corplex team completed all the prerequisites and gained our AS4801 accreditation; a major milestone on our OH&S journey of continuous improvement. The team has now set their sights on OFSC and ISO 9001 certification in 2013.
We added a new business to the Corplex group and gave birth to Corplex Construction Supplies specialising in equipment and supplies for the building industry.
Our contract list continues to grow and while we handed over many completed buildings including LED, Bardcom, Hotel Agencies, Arrigio D’Angelo Super Fund, Sunyard, Gas Imports, Bagtrans, JCB, Arkwright and Fujian Footwear we were also successful in signing new customer contracts for completion in 2013 including the Thompson road multi warehouse and café development, Hunter Leisure, Nissan and Hyundai car dealerships in Caroline Springs, Nine Mile Fruits and the Cook Street properties which will see us moving to our new home at Port Melbourne in 2013.
We supported a number of community groups including Men’s Shed, Rotary, Variety and sponsored the Coburg Football Club and our future tennis stars at Maribyrnong Sports Academy.
The Corplex Team has also grown considerably this year and we welcomed Raya, Winston, Hugh, Fred, Carmel, Ben, Vinh, Rad and Paul to the group.
Our corporate profile has taken on a new dimension with the launch of our new online site, the customer feedback has been great and reflected in their testimonials. We also entered the social media sphere with Corplex now officially part of Facebook and Twitter.
Our quarterly Friday afternoon BBQ’s were a great opportunity to take time out from everyone’s busy schedules while at our mid year celebration dinner we took the time to recognise and thank everyone for all their hard work and contributions throughout the year. We finished 2012 off with a party that saw a few nursing a head ache or two.
It has been an unbelievable twelve months for Corplex and while we watched a lot of our competitors struggle to tread water we surged forward. All of this would not have been possible without the special efforts of the entire team. So thank you for a truly outstanding year. Please take the time to reflect on your achievements this past twelve months and enjoy a well earned break with your family and friends, you deserve it!!!
